1. Her swords gleamed from her eyelids,
Spread over lions and gazelles.

2. She smiled, revealing a reluctant pearl,
Until I wept for it with yearning.

3. Ghazala, reveal your full moons, though
My share of them is but a glance.

4. Turkia, whose cheeks outshine vermilion dye,
My sobriety from them is stained crimson.

5. A cheek that shows you bliss and passion,
O you who see heavens in fires.

6. And beauties that blossom and outlast their era,
Just as the meadow dons manifold hues.

7. Like a verdant garden, except my tears
Have doused it with scalding sorrow.

8. Would that her cheek's joy could be embraced
Had you heard meadow saffron sing to its lovers,

9. Then rage with swords on the eyelids,
And her figure's gentle sway makes meadows sway.

10. If her rejection was due to my grey hair,
Then her glances indulged me for so long.

11. And I attained what my youth never dared,
And did what my devil never imagined.

12. I intentionally reaped the fruit of sins
When I saw pardon was the lot of the sinner.

13. And I milked this life for half my sustenance,
Only to find its cream a fleeting possession.

14. I probed the natures of the noble and found
None to match my King's excellence.

15. A King whose name makes branches moan
As pulpits chant his praises.

16. Dignified, beloved like dew if veiled,
I see floods surge from his clouds.

17. His house established great deeds,
And pillars built on foundations.

18. I swear by Him who exalted and exalted His glory,
And granted His boons in every place.

19. Never did destitution leave me until in
My praise, I found, "It is Allah and the Sultan."

20. I found the favors filled my hopes,
And traits filled my tongue.

21. I praised one whose spreading glories
Lifted my mention - even if he never rewarded me, it would suffice me.

22. A King, more righteous though late
To arrive, like God's smile on a forehead.

23. Tired fingers never lack his bounty.
Supremacy and glory belong to the tireless.

24. He gave while the clouds deprived,
and his principles guided though stars wandered.

25. The unsheathed swords were accustomed to plunder from him
Traveling from Al-Yazni in sheaths.

26. Hawks ally over his spears
Like doves on myrtle branches.

27. Alchemy proves true with his sword,
So base metals return as gold.

28. The outpouring of his deeds and words say:
Two oceans of grace and prohibition meet.

29. O you who buy praise with his money!
Congratulations on a sublime position.

30. Your hands spared people my causes,
And your protection turned my steed from nations.

31. So I erased all but your praise from my concerns,
And shook off all but your bounty from my mind.

32. I abandoned praising and blaming the world,
And busied myself not with this dew but my condition.

33. I persist hoping in the One
Whose excellence no two disagreed upon.

34. Continuous in His praise, my words
Bound by the craft of benefaction.

35. The latter days are never devoid of wonders
That flow between generosity and eloquence.

36. I measured his gifts by the measure
And loosened the reins of his praise in verse.
