The stars were eclipsed by its years,
١. جادت صفات علي في الورى رتباً
تظلَّمت من سناها الأنجم الزهر
2. Don't you see Mercury complaining of its fingers,
And the moon claiming its face?
٢. أما ترى ما تشكى من أنامله
عطارد وادَّعى في وجهه القمر
