1. Alas for a union that has passed away!
It belonged to Abd al-Rahim, and was a pearl.

وكان ذا دُرٍّ بعبد الرحيم
2. Would that I had met with kindness from him!
But that pearl lives lonely now, an orphan.
٢. فليتني لاقيتُ منه الردى
وعاش ذاك الدّرّ درًّا يتيم
