١. أفدِي غزالاً من الأتراك مقلتهُ
في صنعة السحرِ أعيت كلّ أستاذ
2. A covenant was made in that moment to enchant me
Oh my sorrow, between a magician and an enchanter
٢. نبَّاذ عهدٍ بذاك اللحظ يسحرني
يا حسرتي بين سحَّارٍ ونبَّاذ
3. It's as if the words of Fakhr al-Din have enveloped
A straight leg on which penetrating magic was cast
٣. كأنَّ ألفاظَ فخر الدِّين منه حوَتْ
مدامَ ساقٍ عليها سحر نفَّاذ
4. The one with prose and verse, how much sweetness he said
And that, by your life, what is the sweetness of the refuge
٤. ذو النظم والنثرِ كم قالت حلاوة ذا
وذا لعمرك ماذي حلاوة الماذي
5. And the merit among people, how much did a disposition please him
And how much did it show sympathy to an ardent lover
٥. والفضل في الناسِ كم لذَّت له شيمٌ
وكم عطفت على لهفان لوَّاذ
6. O writer, you have left pens in turmoil
Composing spells embroidered on silk
٦. يا كاتباً خلت أقلاماً بمهرقه
عقائلاً رقمت طرزاً على لاذ
7. Congratulate him, well done O granter
O my delight with this and suppress the spiteful
٧. تهنّها نعمَ الوهاب قائلةً
يا عيده اهْنأ بهذي واقْمع الهاذي
