1. The night of reunion has fragrant breezes,
In it the dawn shone before dusk.

2. I was visited by one whose identity was clouded,
So he dispelled the darkness of gloom.

3. I met him while my heart reckoned estrangement,
As if I had never tasted the sweetness of meeting.

4. O Lord, grant a life of purity on that plain,
That we enjoyed before the day of parting.

5. Today we sever like the darkness in stillness,
And its gloom like the day in illuminations.

6. It's as if I'm secure in the shade of the name of the Exalted Lord,
Lord of the Most High and Lord of loyalty.

7. A just king who spread prosperity in an era,
In which people forgot to mention praise.

8. An emigrant whose generosity, when asked,
Was like the emigration of one who unites for ostentation.

9. He precedes promise with bestowal, so he doesn't
Need advocates to mediate for him.

10. The repute of his concealed munificence spread,
So it's like musk diffusing in concealment.

11. He was so generous that the palms of his proteges
Could barely taste the delight of life's comfort.

12. Whenever his generosity seemed to wane,
A critic returned, his generosity renewed in inception.

13. They blamed him for bestowal, so they enticed,
And he established ranks upon enticement.

14. The gates of his abode opened, so—like ants—
Hordes of poets flocked through them.

15. Nobility in humility, endurance in capability,
Awe in modesty, and grace in timidity.

16. O Lord, a withering neighbor who severs hands
In the tract of a withering neighbor.

17. In barrens where lightning fears the horizons,
Flickering in intestines and kindling fervor.

18. It relished your protection, then rested
From the misery of travel and the desert.

19. A darkness as if a blind whale
Seeking in it the staff of the archer.

20. Those who asked mentioned your name in it,
So they roamed in thoughts amid the lights.

21. And wars in which the swimmer flows
In seas poured from blood.

22. From clamor that sparks from the strike of fire
And temperance extinguishes ardency.

23. People despaired when you appeared, so you
Dispelled its darkness with might and opinions.

24. Remove me now from a state in which I see
Every day in ferocious attack.

25. It's enough that my condition's clarity is that
In this time, I'm of the cultured.

26. My loud voice and merit are lost—
Like the sword gone astray in a withered hand.

27. Except I've constructed hope on pillars of glory,
Perfectly building reliance.

28. I wonder who of your court is worthier than me,
O unique one of the generous and open-handed.

29. You remain lofty in status, ambitious in grants,
Vanquisher of evil, dispeller of sorrows.

30. For your loyalists, what they hope for in survival,
And for your dignity, what they fear in demise.
