1. When the one I desire saw me a lover,
Like the gazelles playing and frolicking,
١. وذي عذلٍ لمَّا رآنيَ عاشقاً
كواعبَ غزلانٍ تدلّ وتطرِب
2. He teased me and I let my tears flow like rivers,
So I said to him, “Let them play and have fun.”
٢. لحاني فأجرَيت المدامعَ أنهراً
فقلتُ له دعهم يخوضوا ويلعبوا
