1. He suppressed his love, but his tears betrayed him,
Flowing freely, divulging his secret.

2. Of wise counsel I have none but tears -
With them my shame confronts me.

3. Passion commanded me as dew commands the grass,
And I obeyed, listening intently.

4. May the Judge of all judges, ocean of knowledge,
Remain, and may his justice encompass all.

5. Among the Creator's gifts to mankind are traits
That endure forever, while an enemy's rage lasts but an hour.

6. He is flawless but for excessive generosity -
He has forbidden us from desirable moderation.

7. His blessings have taught us to describe his transcendence -
To them belong merit, wealth and skill.
