1. Come, my moon-faced beloved, let me care for you
Or lead you like a noble steed when I desire your song
١. هَلّا أَتَيتَ بِقُمرِيٍّ أُرَبّيهِ
اَو ساقَ حُرٍّ إِذا ما شِئتُ غَناني
2. You speak not of virtue or piety as excuses
Nor fear of God, O Yahya ibn Wardan
٢. فَلَيسَ لِلبِرِّ وَالتَقوى حَجَجتَ وَلا
مِن خَشيَةِ اللَهِ يا يَحيى بنَ وَردانِ
3. When in Mecca you were a vile adulterer
As they tightened their saddle girths around you
٣. كُنتُ الخَبيثَ إِذا شَدّوا مَحامِلَهُم
أَيّامَ مَكَّةَ أَنتَ الفاسِقُ الزاني
