تحتَ ليلٍ من شَعرهِ فوقَ غُصنِ
3. Who unjustly and aggressively sheds blood
Not with a passed sword, but with an eyelid
٣. يستبيحُ الدِّماءَ ظُلماً وبَغياً
لا بسيفِ ماضٍ ولكن بجفنِ
4. Whenever his glance says no and never
My passion says perhaps, if only and indeed
٤. كلَّما قالَ طَرفُه لا وكلاً
قالَ وَجدي عسَى وليتَ وإِني
5. Too glorious in description to be compared to the branches
In gentleness and in tender song
٥. جلَّ وَصفاً من أن يُشبَّه بالأَغصا
نِ عطفا وبالغَزلِ الأغَنِّ
6. I have no protector against an oppressor who has crossed limits
In his estrangement and avoidance of me
٦. من مُجيري من جائرٍ جازَ حداً
وغُلواً في هجرهِ والتَّجني
7. He said to me, your waist is enough, stop
Telling me the news of your body’s illness from me
٧. قالَ لي خَصرهُ كفاكَ بأن تُس
نِدَ أَخبارَ سُقمِ جِسمِكَ عنِّي
