2. And room for that signet ring, O musky scent of the wild deer
That I may sip what is in that mouth of sweetness

3. Go gently with me if you are determined
To take my heart from passion and fervor

4. Guard my gaze or guard from it the pasture of gazelles
Otherwise this blame and reproach will not avail

5. I glanced one day at Nu'man with a glance
Unwittingly thereby losing my wisdom

6. It captivated the softness of my heart and seized it
Thereupon that tyrant who has no pity for a slave

7. The slenderness of your stature bends as it bows
Filling my mind with dread and my eyes with tears

8. Flirting, from behind a veil it looks
Revealing a full moon, smiling with a string of pearls

9. It estranged me, yet my eyelids found no rest
And I forgot sleep when longing for you grew long

10. If the vicissitudes of fate send me your apparition
What grateful hand can there be for fate in my eyes
