Two parts that drink only of pure water
١. وَعُونٍ يُباَكرنَ النَّظِيمَةَ مَربعَا
جَزَأنَ فلا يَشرَبنَ إلاَّ النَّقائِعا
2. Playing host to it until its aridity wearies them
While the Euphrates flows, biting, not unifying
٢. تَضَيَّفنَهُ حتَّى جَهَدنَ يَبيسَهُ
وآضَ الفُراتُ قائِظاً لَيسَ جامِعا
