1. O Lord, O Lord, harm has afflicted me
And troubles beyond count have fought me

2. The days of my life have passed joylessly
Sorrows great have overtaken me

3. That is due to my evil deeds
I have no good deeds stored away

4. And when calamity befalls
An evil slave who disobeys

5. Yet I hope these trials
Will win me grace

6. From Your abundance that fulfils all needs
O Lord, sins weigh down my neck

7. And I have no rest or comfort
O Lord, wrongdoing has shackled me

8. I confess my sins and seek Your mercy
O Lord, greatly have I sinned and transgressed

9. Evil has spread from me, and from You comes pardon
O Lord, I have no intercessor save

10. A Master whose intercession is a treasure stored

11. From him come mysteries and secrets made known
He ascended to the Throne on the Night Journey

12. And obtained from his Lord the vision of meeting
He attained what no angel attained

13. Nor any appointed record-keeper of Heaven
He attained what none before him attained

14. And greetings met him followed by glad tidings
He was privileged by his Lord with miracles—so many!

15. Miracles beyond number or limit
The cloud shade spread over him though his sun returned

16. The moon split for him as a sign
His miracle Discourse—how the teeth of enemies

17. Attempted to harm him but were broken by plague
Trees bowed to him and mountains submitted

18. How often the very stones and date palms greeted him!
In his palm pebbles glorified God—and from them

19. Water sprang forth abundantly
By his blessing the bitter well turned sweet

20. Sight returned to eyes that saw him
And how much ease visited the sick through his ease

21. Sickness and harm fled them that suffered
Spiders wove veils guarding him, doves protected

22. The cave where he hid, wild birds defending
