1. Time has bowed the back with sorrows
And banished the tender griefs, replacing them with despair
١. والدهرُ هدَّ الظَهرَ بالحَدثانِ
ونفى الشجونَ وجاء بالأشجانِ
2. In this abode of eternity the nightingales sing on
And its tribulations have long made me mourn
٢. وأقامَ بالخُلدِ البلابِلَ خُلَّداً
وبريبِهِ قد طالما أشجاني
