1. I reached the tomb of the Sheikh of mystics, Abu Bakr,
Between noontime and afternoon prayers,

2. And I renewed my ablution in the pure valley, asking
God to purify me of sin and burden.

3. I prayed noon prayer there and rested an hour,
And also prayed my afternoon prayer.

4. I started supplicating God, Majestic is He, by his merit,
To facilitate all my affairs,

5. And grant me ease from Him as an act of grace,
For my Lord most High replaces hardship with ease.

6. Until I sway exultantly in Mecca,
Swaying with joy of reunion, not with frailty of old age,

7. And after it spend a blessed evening in Medina,
Safe, when I neighbor the Pure One, from tyranny.

8.
I will rub my cheek on the soil of blessed Medina,

9. For the soil of God’s Messenger is more fragrant than musk.
Medina is the most blessed of places through its blessing.

10. It diffuses its scent, so ask no more about clove buds.
So I ask my Master, by the merit of Muhammad,

11. And Medina, and the Sacred House, and the Stone,
To bestow upon us the gift of uniting with them,

12. All together, uninterrupted, without prevention or barrier.
And may He provide for this delegation from His abundance,

13. All they hope for in this place of goodness.
Until they succeed in Mina with their wishes,

14. And each is granted the profits of trade.
And may He make them happy in blessed Medina

15. With the visit of the best of creation, the perfect man.
Muhammad, the oft-praised in all the Books,

16. In the tongues of people of horizon, land, and sea.
If the Kind Master praised himself

17. With good character in the decisive Scripture,
What can all the praisers say together,

18. Even if they filled the horizons with praise and thanks?
Upon him be God’s prayers as long as a passionate lover
