1. Welcome, welcome, my dear beloved
After the eyes of the forsaker have slept

2. You have revived me with your nearness and meeting
After my death from the distance of the killer

3. O you whose love, affection and intimacy
Settled in the core of my heart

4. You are the sought, and the goal of my request
From every high and low in existence

5. My youth and adolescence went away
With your unique, flawless beauty

6. So I became, among people, infatuated
And bewildered in a state of swooning

7. The intoxications took me away from the wine of bliss
And companionship, not from a cup of false wine

8. You see him unconscious of his senses
Not awakening to the word of a forsaker

9. So drink the drink of the gnostics and saints
Who combine every noble characteristic

10. And submit to their cupbearer and the axis of their orbit
And the leader traversing their paths, the connector

11. He is the savior of the whole wilderness and its aid
By permission of his generous, just Master

12. If you want to know him and learn his attributes
In the way of metaphors, then listen, my questioner

13. He is a humble, reverent master
Pious, devout, ascetic in this fleeting world

14. The Law is his conduct, the Truth is his state
And from servitude, with an exalted station

15. Kind and merciful to all creatures
Seeing existence with a gaze of inclusive kindness

16. His ocean extends from the Ocean of Oceans
The best of people, in this life and the next

17. May Allah bless him whenever the breeze blew
Or a traveller journeyed, seeking him as destination
