1. O beautiful gazelle, your beauty has no equal
Is there a way for me to meet you, O melody?

2. Do I have any hope of reunion, O my wish?
That time may pass and my days and moments become pure

3. O shepherd of the living, made of smooth marble
Nay, nay, keep our covenant and oaths

4. How much estrangement and rejection of affection
A confidant has found, and longing and sighing

5. Weeps over the days of intimacy and gatherings
With loved ones and companions at the two abodes

6. Of every pious, devout ascetic
Whose journey to God is not pretentious

7. A group that has no worries or cares
No heed or inclination to the transient

8. Their bliss in life became misery without them
For he who does not love them finds no rest

9. Today, O my friend, I have no comfort
Except, except, and thinking well at times

10. Quenching our vanished youthful days
With loved ones, dwellers of the blissful Noman

11. The Abode of Tents, with white gazelles
And sand grouse cooing amidst spirit and basil

12. Ghadah promised a reunion, but was coy
Nay, she broke her promise and turned my heart away from a second

13. Let my messenger inform Sa'di
That I am sick, and separation makes me weary

14. And that my cure for illnesses is in her hands
Easy for her, so let her not be stingy with kindness

15. For I have hope that she will be gentle and
Incline to rejoin ties of kinship and neighbors

16. But if not, I have resorted to a mighty pillar
Of great stature and high standing

17. The leader of all people, pole of the saints, one
Who reached glory to the far and the near

18. Shaykh of shaykhs and teacher of elders, the
Door to divine knowledge, a spiritual master

19. Noble lineage and a soul immersed
In mystic knowledge and gnosis

20. A scholar of Sacred Law, with extensive experience
Knowledge and forbearance in verification and precision

21. A shaykh of all who follow God's path
Without objection or criticism from detractors

22. Succor of worshippers, rain for countries
Through him ancient glories are watered, and each thirsty soul drinks

23. Calling to God with upright words and
Righteous deeds, with knowledge and proof

24. A guide; God guided those astray and wandering
Through him to the straight path

25. His beginning was as his ending, surpassing
All his peers, so ponder this clear lesson:

26. Muhammad ibn 'Alī, shaykh of our brotherhood
Intercessor whose branches reach the far and near

27. O my master, O Jamāl al-Dīn, O my support
Rescue a shrieking brother, laden with sorrows and grief

28. He calls upon you to relieve his plight
And what he fears, like a frightened fugitive

29. So stand by him, and help him, and guard his side
From what he fears openly and in secret

30. You are our succor in every calamity
After God and Tāhā, best of 'Adnān

31. You are our strength when disasters loom
And threaten evil and aggression

32. So hurry, O noble scion, to untie the knot
Of this affliction, immediately

33. You remain, O son of the Messenger of God
A refuge for eager souls and every fervent yearner

34. The best of his goodly line, his elite
In the Abode of Goodness, of knowledge and Qur’ān

35. Yes, and in the Auspicious Valley altogether
Wadi Ibn Rashid of lofty Qahtān

36. I have requests I hope you will fulfill
Through your blessed countenance, in kindness and approval

37. So strive in it, O Abū 'Alwī, in earnest
For God, you are one of stature and ability

38. The matter belongs to God, creator of
Our existence, reviver of the dead and transient

39. Possessor of majesty, graciousness and favor—we praise Him
For the continuance of His bounty and favor

40. We ask Him to mend us, we ask Him to have mercy
And pardon us, and meet us with forgiveness

41. And all kin and people of faith altogether
O Lord, and conclude us with Divine Oneness and faith

42. Then blessings upon our chosen liegelord
Muhammad, so long as the white reed grouse sings at dawn

43. And the wild doves coo in the dark before dawn
And the rain stars pour down sweet clear drink
