1. O soul, this which you are doing is strange
Knowledge and reason yet no piety or manners

2. You have described hypocrisy as it is heard in the text
Knowledge of the tongue yet ignorance of the heart and the cause

3. Love of possessions and love of status so beware
Lest the pages and books testify against you

4. And you wake up in a grave with no companion
Family and friends when they bury you, they leave

5. Leaving you behind with the evils you have sent forth
For wealth is delayed and deeds accompany

6. And be certain that after death all will gather
Foreigners and Arabs and people scattered about

7. And He will judge them for what they have done
On a day when wealth and lineage will not avail

8. And I fear returning to the justice that is promised by
One who is not feared, of a fire filled with reeds

9. Its fuel is people and stones, burning
Never extinguishing for all eternity, blazing

10. And being far from the eternal Garden filled
With fragrances and no death or fatigue

11. In it are fruits, rivers, light
And maidens, tents and youths

12. While this abode has no permanence
Do not be deceived by its gold, silver or youth

13. Possessions, ride and clothes you wear for all will perish
May God not bless the world except for a purpose

14. To come closer to Him, this is what matters
Not ostentation which is but lies and deceit

15. God does not accept deeds that increase
For the doer other than the sake of God so refrain

16. It is complete, bestow prayers upon our Master
His family and companions whose love is a must
