1. The winds of nearness and intimacy have blown,
From the quarter of one whose beauty enthralled me,

2. The perfecter of qualities and meanings,
Whose love dwells within my soul.

3. Love is only for the first beloved,
He who turns away from his love, may he not live,

4. No heart attains purity that changes,
Nor one who takes a second as sacred.

5. As for me, by God, there is none in my heart,
Nor my secrets, nor my mind,

6. Among all the beloveds except my love,
The utmost of desires, the epitome of hopes.

7. Tell the fair ones to cease blaming me,
For my passion in my heart has awakened,

8. And tears from my cheeks are flowing,
I do not listen to those who prohibited me.

9. God suffices me, the Most Generous God,
And His Chosen Guide, the Forerunner,

10. Blessings of God be upon him and peace,
And his family and companions, at all times.
