1. What ails my heart that sorrows overflow
As if a fire burns within its depths so

2. And tears stream from my eyelids in their woe
Like heavy rains that steadily downflow

3. We bid the loved ones farewell when they went
And journeyed from my land and neighborhood

4. The litters carried them, their curtains bent
To a house blessed, though far from where I stood

5. He who stirred up these passions and sorrows
And left me with no peace within my soul

6. Alas for me when they left, such grievous loss
So long my sadness, distant is my goal

7. My turmoil, exile, solitude and fear
My wilderness, confusion, in waste so drear

8. Yearning for the gentle doe and fawn
Roaming freely in places once held dear

9. The sweet scented breath of one with beauty
Who brings wisdom, leaves traces fair and fine

10. Whose being brought me comfort and duty
With features like a gentle morning breeze divine

11. Until a changer from fate disturbed the scene
This world spins on with its decrees and laws

12. So he traveled on, determined and keen
To the source of light, tidings and great cause

13. And I remained, my spirit tossed about
Scattered in ecstasy, mysteries throughout

14. O gentle doe, return blessed, come back soon
Let our meeting bring life to what was devout

15. Tears flow when darkness falls, remembering days
Of connection, innocence, all that was dear

16. I grieve for you, with sorrow and dismay
Yet all affairs to The Creator adhere

17. O heart, do not despair, but show patience
Honorable through every circumstance dire

18. Anticipating, expecting with resilience
Watching for the Almighty, noblest Sire

19. The One, the King, Most High His Majesty
Continuous in kindness and in doing right

20. Merciful Lord who compensates fully
All that was lost with abundance and might

21. When events and calamities prove strange
Seek help from the chosen Prophet's range

22. Mustafa, guide for people to guidance
Beauty of existence, best of all the saints

23. Chosen and selected from Hashim's lineage
Ocean of dew, virtue he acquaints

24. Muhammad the Praised, whose stature is so high
Expanding the lands, the finest his traits

25. Best of all creation, refuge for those who try
Destroyer of tyrants and miscreants

26. Who diminished the honored messengers, guide supreme
And last of them, this none can debate

27. The Generous Lord favored him with esteem
Pleasure, forgiveness, secrets so great

28. That night of ascension, when he rose sublime
To the Lofty Presence of the Almighty

29. With ranks, merits, virtues of that time
And means elevated, nothing slight He

30. My master, my support, my pillar true
My strength in ease and in adversity

31. My refuge in woes, my shelter anew
From fears and harms, O succor me

32. My protection, my might, my victory
My helper, my rescuer, stand by me

33. O chief intercessor, come and see
I'm sunk in a sea of adversity

34. In nights of gloomy darkness I now dwell
Perplexed in thought, unsure what path to take

35. In my heart burns sorrow, like fires of hell
Since love and friends were lost, my spirit did break

36. With few companions and supporters nigh
Help me, O Messenger, be my ally

37. Defend me to the Merciful Lord for what wrong I did make
Ask Him to lift my duty and concerns

38. Fulfill my needs and cover my sins
Reform my state, make my endings good

39. Guide my ending, my neighbors make amends
Grant me wellbeing, forgiveness and care

40. Success complete, kindness ever near
Upon you, O guide to truth, blessings sent

41. When the morning breeze blows gentle and clear
And to your family and companions fame

42. For all the birds that sing from every tree
