1. O breeze of the sand dunes and ruins
Convey my greetings, and explain to them how I fare

2. O northerly breeze, if you pass by here
While its people are asleep, and my friends are gone

3. Find out if they know
Of my anguish, my worries,

4. And the old tales of love
I almost shared, but kept to myself

5. I’ve seen nothing, heard nothing, yet
My friend, this cannot be unreal

6. It must be true in essence
Having come from the abode of beauty

7. I will fold up my heart, keeping secret
My sorrow and confusion within

8. And wait for what God will bring
Of hidden kindness and favor

9. Gentle-natured, sweet dissolved
In the most delicious waters

10. Bewitching eyes, rosy cheeks, perfect build
Love is hard to attain, union difficult

11. If he draws near, I’m not aloof
If he says, I do not refuse

12. I almost despaired of his company
For the great distance, the long rope

13. But in attaining him I seek aid
From God, Master of masters

14. The Prophet, most truthful of mankind
Best of creations, quintessence of perfection

15. The trusted saint, our teacher
Spiritual pole, Abu Bakr, most high

16. The imam, cloud that rains on all people
Lion in battles, father of warriors

17. The noble, the chaste, cave for orphans
Bearer of burdens, helper in hard times

18. Reviver of faith, treasure of certainty
Ocean of knowledge, pillar of wisdom and virtue

19. Blessing of existence, comforter of hearts
Essence of witnessing, epitome of perfection

20. Model for saints, sultan of the devoted
Of spiritual pillars and substitutes

21. How many a cry he relieved
Agony and longing, removed tribulations

22. Guided the lost, corrected the astray
Wandering in the wastes of error

23. O son of Taha, son of the best successor
Son of the Prophet’s grandson, son of men of valor

24. The valiant men, most noble of all
Leader in knowledge and deeds

25. Come, o son of the Prophet, come to my aid
With a life-saving mercy to free my heart

26. And remove my sorrows, bring near
My hopes through righteous deeds

27. Calm the heart that longs
For the beautiful life once glimpsed

28. God knows my state; yet still I am told
To call and beseech constantly

29. Prayers to God envelop a Prophet
Who brought us victory and spoils
