مولاي فخر الدين أنت إلى الندى

1. My Master Fakhr al-Din, you hasten to generosity
While others hold back, shy and hesitant

١. مَولايَ فَخرَ الدينِ أَنتَ إِلى النَدى
عَجِلٌ وَغَيرُكَ مُحجِمٌ مُتَباطي

2. You brought down those hopeful to the most spacious abode
And spread out before those hopeful the best carpet

٢. أَنزَلتَ مَن يَرجوكَ أَرحَبَ مَنزِلٍ
وَبَسَطتَ مَن يَرجوكَ خَيرَ بَساطِ

3. You knocked on the pillars of glory with determination
To which hopes have been tied, however lofty

٣. وَقَرَعتَ أَعوادَ العَلاءِ بِهِمَّةٍ
نيطَت بِها الأَمالُ أَيَّ مَناطِ

4. O fulfiller of promises in an age that has leaned
To forbidding and frustrating people

٤. يا مُنجِزَ الميعادِ في زَمَنٍ تَوا
صى أَهلُهُ بِالمَنعِ وَالإِلطاطِ

5. Far be it from you to be content that I be
Like the gatekeeper's or baker's client

٥. حاشاكَ تَرضى أَن تَكونَ جِرايَتي
كَجِرايَةِ البَوّابِ وَالنَفّاطِ

6. Black as night is the hair of her braids
From Tasuj to less than a qirat

٦. سَوداءَ مِثلَ اللَيلِ شِعرُ قَفيزِها
ما بَينَ طَسّوجٍ إِلى قيراطِ

7. Misfortunes have conspired against him and mornings
Have excessively done him wrong

٧. أَخنَت عَليهِ الحادِثاتُ وَأَفرَطَت
فيها الغَداةُ وَأَيَّما إِفراطِ

8. They have muddied my bright sensibility and changed
My healthy nature, corrupting my humors

٨. قَد كَدَّرَت حِسّي المُضيءَ وَغَيَّرَت
طَبعي السَليمَ وَعَفَّنَت أَخلاطي

9. So take over my care, now that I have conveyed
What I suffer of my illness to Buqrat

٩. فَتَوَلَّ تَدبيري وَقَد أَنهَيتُ ما
أَشكوهُ مِن مَرَضي إِلى بُقراطِ
