1. O father of al-Hasan the supplicant
And the one to whom the afflicted turn in times of distress

2. O you to whom the noblest of people belong
Nobility grows and the lowly gain honor

3. They have lofty aspirations to gain glory
And magnificent souls and principles

4. O son of al-Muzaffar indeed
Fate refused to humiliate you, ever opposing

5. I seek refuge for your eminent family of Qisrawi
Lest their generosity to you be too demanding

6. You are far above reproaching anyone
Nor am I one to find fault

7. You do not hesitate to be generous
Nor do you need to make excuses not to give

8. I swear I am jealous over you
As is every loving admirer

9. So water the roots your father planted
With his pouring rain of hands

10. Being misled does not shame you
But to disappoint your hopeful one brings shame

11. For poets your calamities are great riches
From the wealth of every generous but unlucky one

12. So I send you this praise
And the choice is now yours
