1. I swore by her passage, with spear-like glances,
That grief counts mirth easy to obtain.

2. Carrying noble sentiments, like a firm mountaineer,
As an archer aims surely for the bullseye.

3. Bearing disheveled hair in traveling bags,
Rarely did they leave home and family.

4. Souls humbled for God in obedience,
Generous spirits unacquainted with misery or humiliation.

5. At the stations of Mecca they stand in vigil,
Unburdening themselves of the weight of sins.

6. A blessed soil leads them from Mount Tabâ,
To which angels are led, in the Highest Assembly.

7. Indeed, the hand of his generosity revived
For us the pillar of religion, magnanimity, and openness.

8. While the days continued to oppress people,
He taught them the beauty of his exemplary conduct and justice.

9. Caravans cry out to him from every destination,
So he makes clear to them the roads with his light.

10. He fulfilled their needs before meeting them,
So they did not tread on a barren land.

11. When the hoofs of his horses pat the earth,
The enemies wish they had kohl for their eyes.

12. Your vengeance is sufficient, immediate victory from God,
Undetectable, as you hatched no plots or devices.

13. It would have been sweet to make them taste setback,
But the surprise fate had for them was sweeter.

14. That the pillars of religion be renewed with complete bounty,
The Commander of the Faithful saw it apt.

15. Gifts came from the best of mankind, and a bond
Was made possible without being sought or requested.

16. The shining sun was not pleased
With less than the full moon in the horizon as her husband.

17. He chose him from among the compassionate, sweet of temperament,
One who charms the most hidden secrets.

18. He endowed her with him, from the noblest people, an untainted spring,
The highest in lineage and the purest in origin.

19. Bahilites, whose son is counted as a leader
If they call for help one day against adversity.

20. They have miracles in supporting others, as if
When their flags are unfurled, they were sent as messengers.

21. When mounted in an army, they disperse the enemies,
And if seated in council, they gather the meritorious.

22. So the hands of misfortunes and enemies found no way
To what his blessings tied firmly between them.

23. No footsteps treaded your protected grounds,
Nor did any nights disperse your gathering.

24. You continue to show kindness to the farthest hopes,
Until God shows you from his son, a son.

25. Until you see the glory of youth in him,
Though as an infant he attained it.

26. As if, in but a little while, he will soar,
Extending his arm to attain the highest horizons.

27. Marching before an army, a courageous band,
Turning its horses and infantry back on their heels.

28. Ruling as great rulers ruled,
Giving as great givers gave, vanquishing as conquerors conquered.

29. Live vanquishing the robes of eternity, renewing
The raiment of honor that does not tarnish or decay.

30. My poems will marry, in your club,
Brides in the dresses of your generosity, gleaming.
