1. O namesake of the Imam and successor
And the one through whose allegiance one succeeds

2. O son of the Caliphs from Hashim
Whose lineage is the clearest

3. Through them the honor of the House, the pillar, the
Hajar al-Aswad, Zamzam and the Stone [of Ismail]

4. If people were weighed with them
Their side of the scale would tilt down

5. Are you pleased - God forbid - are you pleased that
My ode fails and does not succeed?

6. And the door of generosity is opened for the worthless
And closed to me, not opening

7. And I am denied alone my share of the
Fountain of gifts while I thirst, slaughtered

8. And each one rejoices in what he obtained
While I have no share in which to rejoice

9. And if they are set loose in the gardens of generosity
I have no playground in his generosity

10. How long will I reproach my ill-omened fortune
And guide it while it does not allow?

11. So I swear if it were of rock
It would now melt and seep

12. That one like me blames time
In an age like yours is reprehensible

13. So here I am explaining my state to you
That you may explain it as I explain

14. And complain to you of a craft that does not
Cease accompanying me and does not depart

15. I think all night until dawn about it
And go to bed as I wake up

16. For it has cast me down and I am singled out
Among people, alone with it do I sport

17. If I were in the time of this Imam
And he with his wealth is generous

18. And the clouds of his gifts pour down
And the sea of his generosity overflows

19. And I have praise in him the transmitters circulated
And he is the most generous of those praised

20. And you were, while you are the greatest of people
My intercessor and thus my matter succeeds

21. So when will my matter be set right
And my corrupt state mended?

22. And here is my hand to you and I am
Faithful that since eternity I do not succeed
