1. The passionate lover stopped by the dwelling,
Seeking affection and seeking intimacy.

2. And your tears flowed if
The tears of the grief-stricken flowed.

3. Where are your radiant moons
And your soft branches?

4. And there was a time as though
Its days of youth had not existed,

5. When the confidant of love was heedless
And its secrets were public.

6. And the arrows of blame had not yet
Struck my ear,

7. And the dwelling of loved ones was not renovated
And the house was not rebuilt.

8. How many places of shelter for me
And homelands in that place!

9. And to its inhabitants from the agony
Of a heart and from passion!

10. They were consoled with solace and patience,
But grief was inconsolable.

11. So the heart opens since the beloved
Departed, it does not rest.

12. Who is for a heart pledged
To youth and yearning?

13. I lost it by bidding farewell
Without being entrusted.

14. And for a mischievous glance on the
Tears, a stone on the necklace.

15. And for a companion who cries for dwellings
Yearning for home.

16. He wandered aimlessly with friends
Who seek intimacy.

17. They blamed him without knowing
His fervor for love.

18. No blame on one with youthfulness
Tested by love of the gazelle.

19. He was tempted by the glances of a
Sorceress with a mischievous glance, so he was obsessed.

20. A beauty, the son of a worshipper
Obsessed with her love to idolatry.

21. She revealed the bracelets, necklaces
And the singer's ornaments.

22. Look at her as she looked,
So blame her then.

23. You, my blinker, brought me
Sorrow and grief.

24. You exposed me by your glance
To ordeals of seduction.

25. You are not the first eye that caused
Illness to a body.

26. O time of old age, the rain did not
Come to you from time.

27. You revealed from flaws
What my gray hair concealed.

28. And the intimate betrayer, if not for you
O gray hair, would not have betrayed.

29. Time turned over in its twists
Showing me its essence.

30. So it threw at me openly
Ordeals and tribulations.

31. So when will its caprices end
Between us, oh sorrow!

32. People are evil, so friendship
Among them is like smoke.

33. So be alone and do not be
Of stillness to tranquility.

34. And live in alienation, do not carry
Injustice in a humiliating homeland.

35. For the virtuous brother wherever
He was a stranger to the homeland

36. Is like water that settled
In barren land flourishing.

37. And the resolute young man who
Probed time and was tested

38. When an opportunity approached him
And he saw he would lose it, was deceived.

39. And when its days turned away
From him, he was aware.

40. Like the auspicious peer, the son
Of permanence, of benevolence.

41. Gatherer of valor and
Tolerance, and wisdom in one age.

42. He fears Allah in secrecy,
His piety manifest.

43. Upholder of duties, of
The approach of generosity and traditions.

44. So he is of the tradition of the generous
Following traditions.

45. He descended from the summit of highness
In dates and reigns.

46. An honourable, pure-tailed she-camel arose
And suckled him pure milk.

47. A nature like the purity, clear
Of immorality and harm.

48. And a hand like the clouds whose
Palm the downpour made heavy.

49. And determination that did not shrivel
On a day of affliction or weakness.

50. He is a rain if it poured down
And a lion if serious.

51. Praise in his view weighs
The kingdom of Chosroes and Yemen.

52. And he sees that he who buys
Praise with money is deceived.

53. So if honour did not degrade itself
Before money, it would not be guarded.

54. Tell the one walking in darkness to work
And harvest even if vile.

55. The purpose left it from weakness
Like the feeble old palm tree.

56. So it is a basket within a basket
Or a building under construction.

57. He wanders with it through the land
And the cities are alarmed by it.

58. Smell a sky whose adornment, Abu Ali
Became gentle from the rough dwelling.

59. And the softness of purpose changed
From the rough house.

60. So he brings comfort to the wayfarer,
What a good comer he is!

61. The guest of benevolence who spends the night
In the house of virtue.

62. The venerable and dignified man becomes
Small in his embrace.

63. His promise was not marred by
Any substitution, nor his generosity by preventing.

64. He advanced money during ease
When others hoarded.

65. And what he generously spent is seen
More lasting than what he stored.

66. And the clouds of his bounty pour down
While the water lines up.

67. The chaste woman came to you, untouched
By the garments of vices.

68. The free woman cannot be
Reproached for any deficiency or weighed.

69. She is the sister of morals, the mother
Of glories, the daughter of tongues.

70. She is the best garments below
Honour, turbans and gowns.

71. She was brought by a benefactor who intends
To reward his discernment.

72. He made her content for a while
But none consented except the vile.

73. Then he gave you her lead
And weigh her worth in you so be balanced.

74. May God bless both of you
With a bride and son-in-law.

75. A generous man honoured his peer
And every generous man gained by her.

76. And he invited her to you whenever
Your good name was mentioned.

77. And a cordiality from me in the
Status of the soul in the body.

78. Time strengthened it over
The passage of nights.

79. So it is between the ribs in the
Kernel of the heart, stored away.

80. It will be folded with me when
The grave shrouds me in the coffin.

81. So live on what the birds on the
Dawn branches sang in melodies.

82. And what the ships decreased
On the Tigris waters.

83. And the breeze sought us gently
Embracing the branch’s stature.
