بحرف وناديت بالأكؤس

A lightning flash that gleamed in polished Indian steel

٢. حميا كأن سنا نورها
سنا بارق لاح في الحندس

3. Whose glance impetuously surveys
The souls of men with haste and restlessness

٣. يعاطيكها رشأ طرفه
سريع إلى تلف الأنفس

4. With a cheek whose pallor pleases you
And eyes that take the place of narcissus

٤. بخد يروقك توريده
وعين تنوب عن النرجس

5. It has a tongue that ever speaks
Of the happiest people with the most misfortune

٥. له قلم أبداً ناطق
بأسعد قوم بالأنحس

6. Whenever it is inspired to something
Which time has cast upon the successful strokes of destiny

٦. إذا ما انتضاه لأمر رمى
به الدهر عن صائبات القسي

7. The minister saw him at a peak
Of virtue rising above the lowly

٧. رآه الوزير على غاية
من الفضل تعلو على الخنس
