1. Enough of sorrow that we disobeyed our Imam
Ali, and that the people obeyed Mu'awiya,
١. كَفَى حَزَنَاً أنَّا عَصَيْنَا إمامَنَا
عَلِيَّاً وأنَّ القَوْمَ طَاعُوا مُعَاوِيَهْ
2. And that the people of Syria have virtue over us
In what they said, so the eye weeps,
٢. وأنَّ لأهْلِ الشَّامِ فِي ذَاكَ فضْلَهُمْ
عَلَيْنَا بِمَا قَالُوهُ فَالعَيْنُ بَاكِيهْ
3. Glory to Him who made Thabir his place,
And who held back the seven heavens as they are,
٣. فَسُبْحَانَ مَنْ أرْسَى ثَبِيراً مَكَانَهُ
وَمَنْ أمْسَكَ السَّبْعَ الطِّبَاقَ كَمَاهِيَهْ
4. Is an Imam disobeyed whom Allah made incumbent upon us
While the people of Syria voluntarily obey a tyrant?
٤. أيُعْصَى إمَامٌ أوْجَبَ اللهُ حَقَّهُ
عَلَيْنَا وَأهْلُ الشَّامِ طَوْعٌ لِطَاغِيَهْ
