1. To meet with you, the travellers hasten
Towards you, the seekers venture forth eagerly

2. Your light dispels the darkness when
It binds the wayward wanderers

3. The caravan praises you as you deserve
While their mounts kneel beneath them, along with their bags

4. You are the undisputed leader of knowledge
And your books admonish the misguided

5. It does no harm if clouds obscure you
From the rain you emerge to provide relief

6. Through your grace, sustained by God
The land yields fruits, water and pasture

7. In your just rule, equal justice prevails
For friend and foe, distant and close alike

8. When two disputants leave your side content
Pleased with your judgment, plaintiff and defendant

9. Each profusely thanking you
As though both opponents prevailed before you

10. My desire was to gain your company
And attain hopes and resolved troubles

11. While my home was far away
Yearning and love had a place within me

12. I longed for you whenever a rider passed by
Full of affection each time a rider passed

13. When God allowed me the nearness of your abode
It called me to curb the determined beasts

14. And parting, which I was accustomed to, disputed me
Assailing without respite, striking repeatedly

15. So I decided to bid you farewell
Oh how difficult were the paths for me!

16. Nothing prevented me except an enchantment
That answered the obstinate separations' call

17. In a night dark as my heart when denied your farewell
And rain pouring like my tears, descending steadily

18. If you ask me of time and its turns
I have wonders to tell of time's blame
