1. Your pleasure is my pleasure that I prefer
And your secret is my secret that I do not reveal
١. رِضاكَ رِضايَ الَّذي أوثِرُ
وَسِرُّكَ سِرّي فَما أُظهِرُ
2. Your fairness has sufficed what you fear
And your love has secured what you dread
٢. كَفَتكَ المُروأَةُ ما تَتَّقي
وَآمَنَكَ الوُدُّ ما تَحذَرُ
3. Your secret with me is dead in the tomb
Once the secret is revealed, it is not concealed
٣. وَسِرُّكُمُ في الحَشا مَيِّتٌ
إِذا أُنشِرَ السِرُّ لا يُنشَرُ
4. It's as if my eyelid disobeyed about you
And my heart concealed what it sees
٤. كَأَنّي عَصَت مُقلَتي فيكُمُ
وَكاتَمَتِ القَلبَ ما تُبصِرُ
5. Revealing what I safeguard
Is a betrayal and sin that does not betray
٥. وَإِفشاءُ ما أَنا مُستَودَعٌ
مِنَ الغَدرِ وَالحُرِّ لا يَغدِرُ
6. When I am able to utter a word
I am more able to refrain from it
٦. إِذا ما قَدَرتُ عَلى نَطقَةٍ
فَإِنّي عَلى تَركِها أَقدَرُ
7. I maneuver myself as I wish
And control it while the spear is red
٧. أُصَرِّفُ نَفسي كَما أَشتَهي
وَأَملِكُها وَالقَنا أَحمَرُ
8. Your affairs, O sword of it, have ups and downs
And your matter, O best advisor, commands
٨. دَواليكَ يا سَيفَها دَولَةً
وَأَمرَكَ يا خَيرَ مَن يَأمُرُ
9. Your messenger came to me in haste
So my poetry, which I hoard, answered him
٩. أَتاني رَسولُكَ مُستَعجِلاً
فَلَبّاهُ شِعري الَّذي أَذخَرُ
10. And if it were a dark day of calamity
My sword and blade would have answered him
١٠. وَلَو كانَ يَومَ وَغىً قاتِماً
لَلَبّاهُ سَيفِيَ وَالأَشقَرُ
11. Time does not neglect its people
For you are an eye through which it sees
١١. فَلا غَفَلَ الدَهرُ عَن أَهلِهِ
فَإِنَّكَ عَينٌ بِها يَنظُرُ
