1. Nights after the wailers are long
And the night of lovers is lengthy

2. It shows me a moon I do not desire
And hides a moon I cannot reach

3. I have not lived in comfort after the beloved
But I carry the misfortunes

4. One single departure came between us
And in death after departure there is departure

5. If the scent of the soul is nearer to you
Then no meadow has left me nor acceptance

6. My East only rises in remembrance
Of water where the people of the beloved descend

7. Forbidden to the flashing of tongues above it
No access is left for the thirsty to reach it

8. As for the moving stars and others
My eyes see the dawn light as guide

9. Did this night not see your eyes seeing me
So tenderness and emaciation would appear in it

10. I met the dawn on the path of fewness
It healed my liver and the night in it was slain

11. And a day as if beauty in it were a sign
You sent it and the sun through you is messenger

12. No lover has followed the effects of the sword of state
Nor have the cowards at night been sought

13. But it comes with every strangeness
Pleasing in its strangeness and terrifying

14. It shot at the road with the stallions to the foe
And they did not know the arrows are mares

15. Whose chests the death stomp is heavy
And horses war has made them see in every land

16. Whenever they are wedded there, they do not settle
When the banners and flags appeared

17. Every towering fort had a flag and pennant
On roads in which over the roads loftiness

18. And in mentioning it to friends there is dreaminess
They did not notice until they saw it attacking

19. Evilly, though its nature is beautiful
Clouds that rain iron upon them

20. So every place with swords is washed
And the captives wailed at nightfall

21. As if the bosoms of the bereft were pouches
And it returned, so they thought it locked fortress

22. With no entrance but to enter bent over
It plunged into the broth of the people, plunging

23. As if with every broth, it was not tested
Fires accompany it in every halt

24. Where the people lay dead and the abodes demolished
It turned and passed through the blood of Malatiyya

25. Malatiyya mother of the boys, nursemaids
They weakened what feats they were assigned

26. So it was as if the water in it was sick
They shepherded us to the heart of the Euphrates as if

27. Its torrents were pouring down men over it
Its wave chases in it every swimmer

28. Alike to it, submerged or flowing
You see it as if the water passed by its body

29. And a head alone approached and disappeared
And in the stomachs of Hunnic and Simnin is prey for gazelles

30. And deafness of hearing to whoever substituted for me
They emerged upon them in assault they recognize

31. With deceits that do not end and stratagems
The forts weary of our long fighting

32. And deliver their people to us and collapse
We spent the night at the fortress of Ra'nna as spoils of war

33. And every dear one to the prince is humiliated
And in each soul is what boredom has not spared it

34. And in each sword what remnants have not spared it
Before Sumaisat the catapults and trebuchets

35. And the unknown valleys and expanses
We wore the darkness to the land of Mar'ash

36. And for Rome there is grave matter in the lands
When they saw him alone before his army

37. They knew all creatures besides him are superfluous
And that the lances of the Script are short of him

A steed excellent despite all the treasure

44. And left behind one of your herds dripping
Will you surrender your son escaping

50. Then it has taught the days how to be violent
You ransomed kings who were not named as pasturage

51. For you are the pasturage of the two sharpened swords
If some people are the sword of a state

52. Then in people are clarions for it and drums
I am the preceding guide to what I say

53. For the saying before those who speak is spoken
The roots of people's speech in what makes me doubt

54. Are no roots nor for those who speak it roots
I oppose what necessitates love of the youth

55. And I am calm though ideas roam in me
Apart from the pain of enviers, it is a cure

56. For if it settles in a heart, it does not transform
Do not hope for affection from an envier

57. Even if you show it to him and confer it on him
We face events with souls

58. That with them much affliction is little
The striking of our bodies is easy for us

59. And the deliverance of honors for us and minds
Abandoned, you conquer the daughter of Wail

60. For you are the clan of the best of the vainglorious
It saddens Ali that his enemy dies

61. If gluttony does not restrain him
Fates and souls are shared booty

62. So every death not caused by injustice is shared
If states are fortune, then they

63. Circulate to whoever death, the visitor, comes to
To whoever eased the world on the soul for an hour

64. And for the white swords in the zealot's enclosure, the clash
O excellent and pride who defeats Ibnat Wa'il

65. You are for the best of the vainglorious an clan
It saddens Ali that his enemy dies
