1. For this day after tomorrow's fragrant dawn
And a fire against the enemy with loud crackling
١. لِهَذا اليَومِ بَعدَ غَدٍ أَريجٍ
وَنارٌ في العَدوِّ لَها أَجيجُ
2. In which the castles spend the night secure
And on its roads the pilgrims travel safely
٢. تَبيتُ بِها الحَواصِنُ آمِناتٍ
وَتَسلَمُ في مَسالِكِها الحَجيجُ
3. So your enemies remain wherever they were
O lion terrifying in your rage
٣. فَلا زالَت عُداتُكَ حَيثُ كانَت
فَرائِسَ أَيُّها الأَسَدُ المَهيجُ
4. I knew you though the ranks were in disarray
And without your sword you would not engage
٤. عَرَفتُكَ وَالصُفوفُ مُعَبَّآتٌ
وَأَنتَ بِغَيرِ سَيفِكَ لا تَعيجُ
5. The sea's face can be known from afar
If it is rippling, how much more if it enrages?
٥. وَوَجهُ البَحرِ يُعرَفُ مِن بَعيدٍ
إِذا يَسجو فَكَيفَ إِذا يَموجُ
6. In a land where leagues are destroyed
When the steeds fully race in exertion
٦. بِأَرضٍ تَهلِكُ الأَشواطُ فيها
إِذا مُلِئَت مِنَ الرَكضِ الفُروجُ
7. It tries the soul of Rome's king therein
So his wretched subjects ransom him
٧. تُحاوِلُ نَفسَ مَلكِ الرومِ فيها
فَتَفديهِ رَعِيَّتُهُ العُلوجُ
8. Do the Christians threaten us with raids?
While we are its stars and it is the mansions
٨. أَبِالغَمَراتِ توعِدُنا النَصارى
وَنَحنُ نُجومُها وَهِيَ البُروجُ
9. Among us is the sword whose scabbard is true
If it meets in battle, its sharpness rages
٩. وَفينا السَيفُ حَملَتُهُ صَدوقٌ
إِذا لاقى وَغارَتُهُ لَجوجُ
10. We invoke blessings upon it against the chiefs' evil
And many pray loudly for it
١٠. نُعَوِّذُهُ مِنَ الأَعيانِ بَأساً
وَيَكثُرُ بِالدُعاءِ لَهُ الضَجيجُ
11. We approved while the bloodshedder disapproved
Of what the ships and commander decided
١١. رَضينا وَالدُمُستُقُ غَيرُ راضٍ
بِما حَكَمَ القَواضِبُ وَالوَشيجُ
12. If he advances, Samanduo we have visited
And if he holds back, his fate is the Gulf
١٢. فَإِن يُقدِم فَقَد زُرنا سَمَندو
وَإِن يُحجِم فَمَوعِدُهُ الخَليجُ
