1. I boast of a passion that has taken root in my innermost being
That is the grace of God, He gives it to whom He wishes

2. I confide the longing of the soul, its taste
And how it makes my inner self exult

3. I clung with yearning after I was dead
And I am not in the rapture of love and came back to life

4. I gained a taste of passion through giving my soul
It is the view that good counsel satisfies with sprinkling

5. God protected a gazelle that came to graze in the meadow
And granted me patience from other beasts

6. God watered a branch that did not straighten evenly
Its match in the garden of perception did not sprout

7. It moves the passions that move the self
It stops the rotation of time if it walks

8. If not for the cycle of fate, its empty center
The system of existence would be chaotic

9. If the sweetness of life were for those who attain union
No individual human would remain alive

10. If the pupil of the eye had chastity in it
The greens would not increase except in thirst

11. Wondrous is the age whose light of grace
Is veiled in the secret of gushing and flooding

12. It confuses the minds, a miracle its beauty
For with manifestation in hiding it diffused

13. With his cheeks a light that if mixed
With dawn, it would surely not compare to the night

14. It prohibited me from inclining toward union as if
It suspected blame from the chaste and took cover

15. I sufficed with picturing in my imagination out of necessity
I was forbidden from that sprinkling

16. I was patient with anxiety, sorrow and regret
I saw them all erased in the meadow

17. So if I live in my patience, consider my aim
And if I do not live, bury me by my critic and sprinkle

18. My friend, apart from passion I have no craft
Over the face of all matters it is the cover

19. When picturing love, the pen of destiny erased
Every inscription it carved on the tablet of my heart

20. Passion flowed, the sum of deeds thus it raged
So I have no fault if I committed some indecencies

21. Blame from the chaste irritates me in passion
Oh, if only about their words I were deaf

22. So the traces of passion did not erase from my inner conscience
Even if the chaste blamed me and argued

23. How am I ignorantly in passion, and it is
The outpouring of pure reason, soul, and mind

24. If it prevented the Prophet of mighty worth exalted is his value
From spreading the carpet of perfect value in the Highest Heaven

25. A noble Prophet, a branch whose worth's perfection
Is over the Highest Heaven in the highest orbit

26. When the light of the Ascension flashed with its brilliance
For his journey had become a luminous lightning

27. The evils of the sea sought his benevolence, generosity and dew
To it my superfluous would not cease being thirsty
