1. Our slumber was so long, as if paralysis numbed our limbs.
It seems that sleep implies to us the death of life.

2. Sleep, for it suffices you are still alive.
A soul rises, repeated by the nostrils,

3. While their souls are led astray by passions.
Laziness, with its deathly feeling, has sentenced them.

4. Drowsiness has conquered our eyelids.
The arrows of fate pierced our bodies,

5. Yet our innards did not feel them.
The ignorant refuse to be driven like cattle,

6. Yet deaf stones are set ablaze by you.
They are used to sitting on chairs,

7. While the ambitious soar high above the clouds.
If illnesses were asked about our condition,

8. They would complain to them about us.
These are the chronicles of ancestors,

9. Scripts that glad tidings speak of.
Your pride in heritage was not enough,

10. As the sons now follow their fathers’ footsteps.
God has clothed you in nothing but honor,

11. Bestowed upon you by the noble nation.
The crown is Islam, abstinence its center,

12. In it lies the precious, well-protected home.
It undoubtedly provides guidance and lessons to mortals,

13. Through it comes guidance, and from you, attentiveness.
They went astray and fell into abysses.

14. They could have succeeded had they wished so.
It contains all the fundamentals of knowledge,

15. The treasure’s magic lies in ideas.
Examine the flowers in their tents,

16. It is none other than the splendid garden.
And extract gems from its depths,

17. Its brilliant rays have dazzled minds.
God protects it and its people,

18. No enemies have managed to extinguish it.
