1. Turkey is not content with what its government has done
To Muslims, shame on it, nor are the Arabs

2. We hoped for good from it, but it turned
Those hopes upside down, and wrath does not abate

3. This age has shown us, of its events
All kinds of wonders, until wonder itself ceases

4. They said the Caliphate had become a burden on them
Were it not for the Caliphate, they would not have attained what they aspired to

5. They tossed it into our hands, discarded
And underestimated that heinous deed, and turned away

6. In the House of Osman, glory lies erased
Mourning the greatest calamity, lamenting grievously

7. Why did they not protect in the House of its opener
He who protects your lineage protects you

8. To the House of Osman we owe
A debt to be repaid, as duty demands

9. Shame on the noble community for losing one
To whose state we claimed loyalty yesterday

10. These are their achievements in every kingdom
The Turks would not have been known nor esteemed but for them

Their banners! Dire is what they have chosen!

12. Rulers over what is not their faith
Who say the sciences of religion should be avoided

13. If this be true, give them tidings
Of miserable loss, but I wish it were a lie

14. I regret that yesterday I praised them
While today I claim and stipulate their censure

15. I praised them only for what they had done
I blame them only for what they have committed

16. Were it not for the apostasy which I continue to denounce
This talk of gratitude would not have occurred, but it is the cause
