1. O steadfast in purpose for deeds take their course
With wisdom attained its utmost resources

2. Thought you harness and drive it to see all things clear
So truth becomes apparent as you persevere

3. In politics cunning no wonder at all
Such dedication a full moon in its glory

4. Learned in the courts of the Turks from young years
‘Neath the Sultan’s own tutelage this story

5. Our Caliph Abdul Hamid favor did render
Uplifting, honoring- such boons we must treasure

6. Our professor’s strong hand continues to render
Remembrance and honor to heighten its measure

7. O house of Osman we’ll ne’er forget the good graces
You’ve shown us- the guidance On you we still place

8. Through you glory in both worlds is made veritable
How could we forget hands that were able?

9. Our sons you’ll nurture across all the ages
For that is your duty naught else can erase

10. Thanks be to God whose bounty subsumes me
The caliphate’s court by Allah secured be

11. My brother, my guardian, father and friend
May God let you care for your sons without end

12. No fears for them held I with my brother so near
To care in my absence, forbid any tear

13. Both here and afar all aid I acquire
From thee- your command, equally your desire

14. Still joyful through you and in goodness persisting
Until from our sons see we blessings arising

15. In name and in action and outcome Mahmoud
High souled art thou surely Of treasures endow’d

16. Rejoice and give thanks to forefathers reminding
That their beneficent traces we still find

17. Consider my exile- spite all tribulation
God’s gifts were so plentious escaping estimation

18. My land and my loyalty made me a nomad
For sake of its people though from hearth I was shorn

19. Let Tunis live on and attain its volition
Long live its supporter and long live its champion
