14. Its nights parade their rides while we are
Oblivious, rarely establishing proper sleep.

15. Of what melts minds, if you knew,
What it has uncovered, and what time has taken away, and hopefully,

16. What was unlawful in Sharia and reason, we adhered to,
Pleased by disgraceful things that have circulated among us as merchandise.

17. If it was depicted by the artist’s hand and painted
For onlookers, you would recognize the ugly scene.

18. In general your words, and details will follow,
In the self, it has a greater impact, while you are well-informed.

19. With which do you start, and the necks are swollen?
If you wish it as a mass in the context of its placement.

20. If you contemplate what it almost contains,
You see a cover over its defects elevated.

21. Mismanagement whether in sorrow or in joy,

Stood by its right, not fearing nor hoping.

37. The rein of God's religion was always their way,
They did not deviate nor were they split by it.

38. In what Abu Hafs provided as proof of guidance,
He guided domes and exposed the trunk, uprooted.

39. I do not forget his saying, “This is but a rock,
Since none but The Judge is humbled.”

40. Muhammad was between them, he is the means -
None prostrated to him nor bowed.

41. No, they did not sacrifice livestock for Mustafa,
Nor offer vows among themselves in bowls.

42. Their clothing was not jewelry or luxurious garb,
But armored coats and mail covering each.

43. They endured tribulations, not hungry nor thirsty,
With composed souls, not ostentatious nor satisfied.

44. They extracted wisdom from the essence of remembrance,
Adorning the crown with ruby, so it sparkled.

45. These are their qualities, so let one guided
Incline towards the one who strove the straight path.

46. What is with us? Their pockets are empty,
Yet we foolishly hoard possessions until quarters are vacant.

47. Civilization has increased our extravagance for its luxury -
How many patches it tore from life’s cheek!

48. How many caravans met in its dances!
How many bottles in its taverns gulped!

49. How many trinkets were lost in gambling -
Seeking profit while barefoot returning.

50. He comes to a home filled with wooden bodies
With no feeling - their senses are seized.

51. He did not meet family to guide him
Until he became a follower of his guide.

52. Habits threw him in their abyss, immersed,
Floating and sinking in the waves, rolled up.

53. If not for habits, his intellect would have guided him
To competence, until he slept content.

54. How many spinsters grayed in their braids!
The complexion is blackened from its darkness.

55. A virgin named is ushered from her home -
Her despised beholder relieved, rather he agonized.

56. A doll was presented from the palm of a beautician -
The worst thing is what is pretentiously made.

57. She mimics the creation of The Creator -

64. How many fundamentals the wedding undermined in homes!
And how many tongues over its flames erupted!

65. Oh judgments! Why have you been reversed amongst us?
Growing fat, diseased, and predatory like a hyena?

66. How many denials have been committed at our celebrations!
Not feasts, but for denials and disobedience!

67. Prostitutes are invited to teach chaste women
What they bring, and a wolf among gazelles grazes!

68. With its rounds in dancing it captivates hearts,
Confusing passion in its couplets.

69. It bends waists and leaves people aroused,
Many a drunken nodding from its palm, slapped.

70. They receive God’s blessing
While God is sealed over their visions.

71. How to achieve reform amongst a group
That strayed while the edifice of resolve is near collapse?

72. But the ambition of the noble, its star
In the revolving celestial dome has shone.

73. It was determined to intensify its domains
Until you see it submissive to its judgments.

74. It does not know despair in dire straits -
The mountain of hope in God is never severed.

75. These are their plans, pillars of their vigor,
Water from its depths, a wellspring.

76. They summoned resolve so its downpour rinsed,
No valiant among them but embarked.

77. They tamed the nights, so they submitted captive,
And belittled the strikes of fate, so it humbled.

78. The secret of solidarity in breaths is kindled,
Describing the beams in their diffusion as a trunk.

79. Its emotions soared pulsating in the universe,
Not leaving a trace of its winds anywhere.

80. They roused us so we faced it as a target -
So witness our shooting and judge who excelled!

81. May Tunis live! And may its men live!
And may your Lord protect its nobles and care for them!
