١. لله من قد سبى لبي تأوده
وطالما تاقني منها تجرده
2. Long, long had I borne with her scorn and her pride--
Then to trust to her faith I, repentant, applied:
٢. فقلت مستنجدا بيتا أردده
أرى الإزار على ليلى فأحسده
3. When I saw my own scarf on another one's neck,
Well might I envy the robe and its fleeting deck!
٣. إن الإزار على ما ضم محسود
