1. Ages are but a decrease in increase
For we are fading since we are born

2. Souls are but electricity
Compelled to move the bodies

3. And the pensive soul is but a journey
With which life moves towards the return

4. And the sphere we walk upon
Is but the dispersed from the bodies of worshippers

5. So from it the creation was made and it is from them
Some has vanished and some has decayed

6. And it is none but the market of delusions
With no goods but those in recession

7. And how much has illusion fooled
And that illusion is nothing but habit

8. It has mocked us and we live blithely with it
Whether atheist or believer

9. It deceives us but its end is death
So it had no power over those hands

10. All are equal in oblivion, and if not for You
My heart would have cracked from grief

11. And if not for religion that consoles us with another life
We would have been consumed in darkness

12. I wonder at one who desires it yet knows
That he is for dust from the cradle

13. I want guidance for him but he wants
To guide me while none guides but Allah

14. His desires have decreed by contradiction of opinions in it
While each deduces by his own efforts

15. A group is satisfied by appearances
Racing with whims like a steed

16. And avoided the true divine revelation
Not taking a path but that of faith

17. Of what use is the philosopher if he rises
Futilely to the most stubborn

18. Each has a hope and greed
But it is not but crops at harvest

19. And denying death benefits not
As if people forget it in slumber

20. So it makes true two verses of poetry
Famed and circulated in gatherings

21. I heard that if the living were called
They would answer, but those called are not alive

22. And if the dormant fire were blown
It would ignite, but you blow in ashes
