1. I will lift off the tongue of the people my gratitude
To the masters of the press altogether

2. And I will lift off their tongues my praise
To the free people of the country, the sincere ones

3. With their hands glory wore a crown
And for their goodness I was a prisoner

4. If I was called a soldier in spite of myself
It is upon me an honor, even if precious

5. Yet in poetry I was called great
In spite of myself, and the truth is I was inferior

6. So here I am a poet among them and a soldier
The bearer of two swords, I open fortresses

7. And the Lord of the Throne is all our supporter
Is not Allah the best of supporters?
