1. To you as I desired from afar
A poem of my passion and song to you

2. I presented it before sending it your way
And here it is, true to my promise

3. I did not begrudge it, though you begrudged me
And did not permit your happy approach

4. I exerted myself in reciting and singing
Until I was exhausted by the great effort

5. We have traversed eight decades
What more can be added after its freedom?
