1. By Allah, which of the two shall we mourn,
By Allah, which of the two shall we comfort,

2. You both fulfilled it as fate willed,
Sixty years in loyalty and integrity,

3. No virtuous eye of mine parted from the beauty,
When one of the two friends was announced deceased by the other,

4. This engraved poem, yes this is the brother of my father,
This one resembling him in death like no other,

5. The heart of Al-Qalibi and the house of sorrow together,
Were consoled by merit in their burial ground,

6. The heart of Al-Qalibi and loyalty's perfection revitalized,
Grief spreading it, folding it and laying it down,

7. You lamented him in sincere goodness like no other lamented,
In it friendship startled and his family shuddered,

8. Journey o uncle to Paradise willingly,
In it the reward for what you used to do,

9. O heart filled with faith, remembrance,
And knowledge of the Creator,

10. You fulfilled your obligation to the Judge from youth,
Until death, and the right of God you gave,

11. You worked sincerely for God's sake,
So the house bears witness, and the nights testify,

12. Your hand never wronged the rights of a young man,
Nor did desires call you to their rule,

13. You never became arrogant or yielded,
To the tyranny of time even if its illnesses spread,

14. You were candid in word and deed,
You never sat in a gathering except adorning it,

15. Your path was unsullied protected by you,
Until the caller to the abode called you,

16. This is your tomb illuminated,
By the lights of its Master, your followers' guide,

17. You met your brother-in-law hastily,
Lamenting you, for your bereaved brother-in-law lamenting you,

18. Of calamities that befell your two houses,
None was greater, none hardened hearts like them,

19. The orphans and widows in both houses, their tears,
Flowing for the stricken, running their course,

20. Two dead in an hour, greatest in its impact,
Two eyes closed without even a blink.
