1. To Allah all return
So be patient and take back

2. And surrender to His decree
For His decree cannot be averted

3. Your world is a fleeting shadow
Moving, dissipating

4. We know its realities and we live
Enjoying its shade

5. As long as the world lasts for someone
And is of no benefit to him

6. Live safely as long as you live
For with it comes death

7. Look to those who preceded
So what can man covet?

8. In the world you have no possession, o youth
Except for the three cubits

9. Strange is one preoccupied with it
Knowing the outcome yet fooled

10. Who does not know that
Death follows in his wake?

11. The best of people is he who
Hastens to meet his Lord

12. Like Khadija who in her
Youth was squandered

13. Before thirty her youth
Vanished, anguished

14. We mourn the loss of her youth
And for it we ache

15. She carries him, and her two gardens
Intercede through her

16. He is a flower in her lap
Withered, about to bloom

17. He is a womb's mercy
Connected to her, unsevered

18. And her companion in her cradle
The ribs fawn over him

19. Say no parting, neither soul
Nor suckling babe

20. She will come with palms outstretched
To her Lord submitting

21. And He will say: O Nurturer
I bow before Your Throne

22. I am part of her, and part
Comes interceding for part

23. I did not disobey Your command in life
None can do as I have done

24. You veiled me in it, so I have
None but my mother sheltering

25. I have no garb but her
So in her am I wrapped

26. With husband and parents she was dutiful
And the dutiful are benefited

27. She left them a memory in her daughter
And a remembrance heard

28. Say God's mercy on
Khadija never ceases

29. The seed of kings, Bani Al-Hussein
And the house of Aden most noble

30. And the generous Al-Ma'mun and his name
A harbinger of good fortune

31. And Abu Al-Thana' Al-Khazzandar her husband
Whose column fell cracked

32. His beloved wife passed away
When she least expected

33. And another followed her
The touch of death undone

34. She joined her suddenly
One grieving as I grieve

35. Naught was between the two deaths
Except fleeting moments

36. An arrow struck them both
And in both had its effect

37. Their deaths were like
The flickering of electricity severed

38. Two eyes closed together
And who does not lament?

39. The tragedy cut deeply for the bereaved one
How could he not shudder?

40. She raised him like a mother
In his heart she has a place

41. For his wife her death brought anguish
As with those who grieve

42. Say this is the loyalty of one
Who with his life is generous

43. Where is steadfastness in loyalty?
And where are those suits of armor?

44. This loyalty itself
Does not come with death

45. Only the Creator separated her
From her sincerity

46. So favor is from His Kingship
Supreme with Him and Abundant

47. This, and glad tidings for she
From whom comes fragrant scent

48. I mean this deceased girl
Of pure repose

49. She was the epitome of chastity
No corruption could shake her

50. Her integrity was a light
Radiant upon her

51. So her tomb is for safekeeping
And virtue a repository

52. She spent Monday and Tuesday
Calling them, tears flowing

53. And in Dhu Al-Qi'dah the rest
Of nights, four

54. And by Ahmad's status she will
Be exalted in bliss and drink

55. For in her chronology came
Pure Taha interceding
