1. Thus poetry comforts souls
And thus its rhymes are built

2. Poetry is but pure emotion
The spirit of truths in their meanings

3. To show you the intricacies of things
Like the sun shining clearly through mirrors

4. This, and in what examples you have
No narrator could substitute for explanation

5. This poem alerts you to its freshness
From Hafiz Ibrahim, its composer

6. How many signs among verses preserved
For Hafiz and the tongue of time reciting them

7. The whispering conscience inspired him
With important reminders and notices

8. And he probed the depths of eras
Seeking the gem of the age

9. And how many gems resemble
The stars of the horizon in gifts and tales

10. So he brought people the two necklaces in a pattern
Of poetic verses - and how little you know what lies in them

11. In them is the second righteous caliph Abu
Hafs - and it goes without saying, the Faruq we extol

12. He knew justice and kindness he understood
And religion he purified among people as sanctification

13. The pioneer of law with pure intent
Long agreeing in opinion with its course

14. He stood eulogizing him among Muslims though
The days grew distant from him, grieving him

15. Hoping by his memory and history's lesson
To revive his people - so may he revive them
