1. I lament this age and its people
This is truly the last of ages

2. The age of misguidance, denial, and sin
Obscenity, oppression, and loss

3. The market of corruption is thriving among them
No pact or covenant of faith is kept

4. All are competing in misguidance
And lagging in guidance

5. Neither religious deterrent stops them
Nor any lesson returns them to faith

6. The pillar of villainy is fixed in their souls
While virtue, alas, has no structure

7. They neglected contemplation in the shadows, civilization intoxicated them
So they erred and met loss through it

8. Whoever sits on the throne of frivolity
Is like Chosroes on his throne

9. This one flirts with that one while both
Frolic in abominations and their shame brings them close

10. The throng of singers among the love-smitten youth
Are playthings in the theater of Satan

11. Corruption prevails, so no wonder they
Young and old in passion are equal

12. Command and prohibition among them but
Contrary to what the Quran imparts

13. The state, by God, is dismal, so is there
A glance at the human world

14. God's wrath while we in our heedlessness
Deafens hearts while we in tyranny frolic

15. The strong tyrannize the weak, and if he complains
The poor man regards the other as the culprit

16. God's rights are lost among His servants
So He lost their rights to disobedience

17. Merciless wars have befallen us and we still
Suffer misery and hardship through it

18. Crises have intensified in their regions
For us to see clearly the vengeance of the Judge

19. Punishment has come upon us, and this is His wrath
Since the sinking foretold it in Japan

20. In everything is a sign for the Omnipotent
And the resident of Yathrib, the sign of the Merciful

21. O You who sent him as a mercy to all beings
And made his religion the seal of religions

22. Send, by his right, a renewer to Your servants
And a supporter of our Ottoman crescent

23. And make us follow the paths of perfection, fulfilling
Our hopes, and aid the children of the nations

24. And raise for Tunis its rank in the dominions
And look upon it with a gaze of benevolence

25. I am their voice, so for Your sake, hear their voice
And my tongue in supplication, their tongues

26. I called on You for them, and this is my way
For they are my brothers, and that suffices me
