1. The days have worn out my wings
Your complaints, until I can hardly see

2. And I am no better off than you
I just deal with what I find, hoping it gets easier

3. The times bring changing circumstances
That alternately die and revive with certainty

4. A young man's opinions change
As if he were soft clay they mold

5. So why do opinions about the mind differ so quickly
And how soon assumptions wear out and turn sad

6. The most painful thing I've met in life is confusion
Like a lost gazelle, deprived of eyesight

7. And I know the thread has a course
Though I don't know how it goes

8. And I don't know if life has a purpose
But the ends of life are skills

9. And I have no knowledge of the name of the one I court
Nor would it help if I did know

But my fingers may let the thread slip
