1. The fates have brought joy with your auspicious arrival,
The times have cleared up and sorrows have departed.

2. A gentle breeze has wafted with the fragrance of remembering you,
And flowers have smiled with your praise.

3. The land of Sfax has been adorned, so that the crown
Of the bright faces of you all are as if its moons.

4. And its soil has been trodden, so it has become
A green garden with rivers flowing beneath it.

5. No wonder it rises high when there settles in it
My lord Abu Hassan Ali, the eminent king.

6. A forbearing, just king whose justice is well known,
And to whom good action is attributed.

7. Our day used to be a dark night,
But now the wings of night from it are day.

8. O you who surpass all kings in rank,
Each acknowledging through his rank his supremacy,

9. The exalted fall short of grasping it
In inadequacy, and thoughts fail before it.

10. Through you the face of Tunisia has become radiant
And through your justice a beacon rises over it.

11. For you are the most deserving to be obeyed by one
Who seeks refuge and rest above Tunisia,

12. And the most rightful for kings to strive for him
Upon its horizons with effort and dignity.

13. So proclaim what you desire of loftiness with your command
And accomplish with your resolve all you choose.

14. For time is your slave and good fortune your servants
At your place of rest, and Tunisia is your cloak.

15. For God has granted you perfection, so this is
A land brought joy through you, and that home.

16. O you whom abundant grace praises, though
His blessings for him are what praise him abundantly.

17. I congratulate you, my lord, for the victory by which
Great and serious dangers were made trivial before it.

18. A victory by which you broke the enemy, who had
No mending for that breaking, but only coercion.

19. You remain in an eternal, blissful rule,
The marks of perfection upon you ever enduring.
