1. Happiness seems, in the opinion of its beholder,
A gazelle whose greeting gives life to its greeter,

2. Fluttering, every morning in its meadows.
Its life and its glance are its demise.

3. If the living spoke to the nearly interred one,
Or the dead spoke to the one with a utterance, he would give him life.

4. Its glance precedes the swords of death in their sheaths,
And its meadow grows faster than composition.

5. So none who saw it turned away from it,
Except to flee, it and the doe-eyed maidens' glances.

6. Unless you meet the generous prince, the commander Ali
ibn al-Hussein, so never shall his piety cease.

7. A king who sees the beauty and riches of this world
As a shade and dreams of visions.

8. He trusts in the Lord of High Regard in his deeds,
Assuming responsibility from Him and taking it on.

9. He has the generosity of character and open-handedness,
And the merit of forebearance when faced with injury.

10. May the Lord of High Regard make his rule eternal,
And perpetuate the guidance of creation through him.

11. He made the king eternally abide in glory,
Congratulations for that which he hopes and desires.

12. By the stature of the one whose message encompassed the world,
And the progeny and companions from Wali and Awaa.
