1. His morning is unlike dawn in its radiance
And manifest beauty adorns his cheeks
١. خالف الصبح من سناهُ جبينُ
وعلى وجنتيه حُسنٌ مُبينُ
2. Whenever he turns his gaze each dawn that pours
This one staggers, the other wails loudly
٢. كلُّ صبّ من طرفه حين يصبو
ذا طريحٌ بها وهذا طعينُ
3. His heart is tender toward the pouring dawn
And in his figure are grace and softness
٣. أغيدٌ قلبهُ عن لصّبّ قاس
ولهُ في القوام عطف ولينُ
4. The eve of intimacy has brought us together
Around a harbor where eyes find rest
٤. جمعتنا به عشيّةُ أنس
حول مرسي بها تقرّ العيونُ
5. He handed me jasmine with his right hand
And on his cheek a guarded rose
٥. ناولتني يمينهُ ياسمينا
وعلى وجنتيه وردٌ مصونُ
6. We were amazed that the likeness of a peer
Would combine the rose and jasmine
٦. فعجبنا لغضن بان نضير
جُمع الوردُ فيه والياسمينُ
7. I have from the torment of his compelling eyes
A protection, and curing my love through him is effortless
٧. لي دارءٌ من سُقم جفنيه صعبٌ
وعلاجُ الهوى عليه يهونُ
8. If his saliva healed the curing one day
It would cure my illness and moaning would vanish
٨. لو سقى ريقهُ المعالجُ يوما
لشفى علّتي وزال الأنينُ
