1. O you who walk the path of the pious
And abstain from what is unlawful and impure

2. The dirhams of the loan that have now become
Imprisoned in your possession, complaining of prolonged detention

3. And by Allah, their only crime is
That they brought you ease in your time of hardship

4. So repay their good deed with good
For goodness is the reward of nobility

5. And here I come pleading for their release
That I and they may both find peace
