1. Is there any herald to gladly announce our meeting,
O he whose affection enlivens my garden and refreshes my wine?

2. Morning and eve, I sigh for the one whose glances,
Alternate between downcast and bright.

3. Feigning happiness for his approval,
As they pretend contentment for a suckling babe.

4. How much passion I conceal from the spying eyes,
While tears betray it at times of exposure.

5. O you at whose appearance the sun of daylight departed,
And the full moon of darkness did not persist.

6. Why do I make peace with my eyelids and pillow,
While glances from you and my heart are unreconciled?

7. I see my ship of patience cannot succeed,
In the sea of your love, nor reach the shore safely.

8. What is life to me when my state is unproductive?
It only shines with the adornments of my passion.

9. I drank the cup of endurance during his displeasure,
With patience, though so many tribulations it brought.

10. Sometimes, his heedless eyes awaken,
Then ease and joy are accomplished with delight.

11. Do not despair of the turns of fate, for they
Fluctuate between joy and sadness.

12. If a state makes you uneasy in these times, while
You found your heart unexpanded by it.

13. Then seek Abu Al-Hasan, the Prince Ali
ibn Al-Prince Hussein, the most generous and lenient.

14. You will find a place in Al-Jawza that he rules,
And an unfathomed sea of gifts.

15. A king whose virtues made the highborn graceful to him,
While the rest did not excel him in merit.

16. The grounds of victory were pitched in his past,
Encamped there, unremoved and unshifting.

17. By his clemency, one with no merit,
Can gain favor that was never earned.

18. He has everlasting holy recitations,
That none tasted the delight of its remembrance and glorification.

19. In narrating the sayings of the Chosen Prophet, he takes pleasure,
Else musk’s fragrance to him would not have appealed.

20. Had the rainclouds not learned the way to his hand in generosity,
The face of the earth would not have been swept by pouring rain.

21. O You the supported King, his banner is my creed,
And whom I praise in my poetry and works.

22. Trust his rule has donned the garb of prosperity,
While the rule of his enemies is left unclad.

23. Sacrifice your enemies in the Feast of Sacrifice, triumphantly,
Like slaughtered sheep fully outstretched.

24. When good fortune comes dated with his victory,
The Feast of Sacrifice arrives with joy and delight.
